UK’s first fully smart home development
UK’s first fully smart home development
What it’s like living on a street where every house is powered by Apple Smart Tech
A VERY modern home: House where owners can run virtually everything on their iPhone including lights, heating, kettle, radio and CCTV goes on sale from £250,000.
A new housing estate has been created where residents can control virtually everything that goes on at home via their smartphone.
Householders at construction firm Trivselhus's 39-home development in Milton Keynes can even unlock their front door at the tap of a button.
All of the houses at Sommar Place, which start at £250,000, come fitted with Apple technology that allows a huge variety of household chores to be carried out hands free.
Controlling the water and heating via a phone is already common throughout the UK, but Trivelhus have made it possible to open the blinds, turn on the kettle or even switch on plug sockets.
Swedish building firm Trivselhus has created the first 'smart home' estate in the UK in Milton Keynes where properties come fitted with Apple technology allowing the resident to control a variety of functions from their iPhone including turning on the kettle, viewing CCTV footage and even unlocking the door. The technology comes as standard in each of the 39 homes, which range from flats to four-bed townhouses, with motion sensors dotted around the properties sending alerts to smartphones to maximise security
Detailed plans show exactly where and what can be controlled remotely from light fixtures to window blinds
Built-in Apple HomePods allow householders to interact with other products including iPads, Apple TV and Apple watches.
It also allows for visiting friends or relatives to operate the doors while vital information such as weather and traffic reports can also be verbally asked for before you leave the house as Apple assistant Siri comes pre-installed.
Ken Forster, chief executive of Trivselhus, which is based in Sweden, said:'To date, this level of connected technology integrated into the build of a new property has only been available in multi-million-pound, bespoke smart homes.
'The technology has otherwise been available to retrofit, but this inevitably results in controls that are fragmented and therefore less seamless to use. It's our mission at Trivselhus to develop family homes that have a positive impact on how people live.
He continues: 'Technology is essential in easing people's lives, so it is important that moving forward family homes are designed with smart home technology at their fore.
'We're proud that Sommar Place is leading the way in tech-enabled housing developments that are affordable, efficient and future-proof at a time when technology is developing at pace. In doing so, privacy and security of homeowners is paramount, which is why it was especially important for us to offer the highly secure, end-to-end encrypted Apple HomeKit accessories within Sommar Place, which we believe to be a first in the UK.'
Trivselhus boss Ken Forster said the company was 'leading the way in tech-enabled housing developments that are affordable, efficient and future-proof', adding it was the first development of its kind in the UK
Speaking to The Sun, Mr Forster added: 'Making them smart in this way was less than one per cent of the total cost. 'This is for the masses, not just for footballers, movie stars and bankers.
'Until now only the super-rich might have something like this, having spent £50,000 or £100,000 to install it or splashed out on a multi-million-pound new home.'
David Cowans, Group Chief Executive at property management firm Places for People, which is working with Trivselhus, added: 'Places for People is committed to driving innovation that improves the quality of life in our communities – that's why we're delighted to be partnering with Trivselhus on this groundbreaking development.

'Sommar Place is a truly forward-thinking development, delivering the very best in Swedish energy-efficient design, combined with the latest in smart home technology – effectively future-proofing these homes for years to come.
'Places for People has had a presence in Milton Keynes for many years as both a developer and landlord. Alongside our award winning developments at Brooklands and Wolverton Park, we're delighted to be working with Trivselhus to introduce innovative homes that are unique not only to Milton Keynes, but to the whole of the UK.'
